Relating To the Abbey Of Robertsbridge

Robertsbridge Abbey is situated about 1 mile from the present day village of Robertsbridge in the parish of Salehurst East Sussex.  It is situated close to Bodiam, Ewhurst, Mountfield and Battle.

This book is a list of all land transfers between the Monks of the Abbey and the land owners for miles around.  These documents were transcribed from the originals discovered at Penshurst Place and are a great source of local political history in the years after the conquest until the dissolution of the Monastries by  Henry VIII.

Although still standing today the Abbey is now a private farm and very little of the original building survives, however if the owners continue their annual event the Abbey will be open to the public over the weekends in August.  The abbey si situated just off the A21.
